For example, this year at the Shiseido plant in New Jersey, the company installed 69,00 square feet of solar panels and installed energy efficient light bulbs. This is expected to save 600 tons of carbon dioxide a year from being released into the environment (equivalent to planting 85 acres of trees!) Shiseido also supports several social issues and contributes to causes such as disaster relief and child welfare. The employee sponsored Camellia Fund donates to organizations such as the United Nations Development Fund for Women, The World Wildlife Federation, and the Women’s Shelter Network in Japan. Shiseido is also a leader in research for alternatives to animal testing and a supporter of local artists.
